The Soil Moisture Monitoring and Early Warning System can continuously monitor soil moisture levels over extended periods. Users can flexibly deploy soil moisture sensors based on monitoring requirements; sensors can also be placed at various depths to measure剖面 soil moisture conditions.


The system also offers additional expansion capabilities, allowing for the addition of corresponding sensors to monitor soil temperature, soil conductivity, soil pH, groundwater level, groundwater quality, as well as air temperature, humidity, light intensity, wind speed and direction, and rainfall, thereby meeting the needs for system function upgrades.


The soil moisture monitoring system can comprehensively, scientifically, and genuinely reflect the changes in the monitored area's soil, providing timely and accurate soil moisture conditions at each monitoring point, offering crucial foundational information for disaster mitigation and drought resistance.






Soil moisture automatic monitoring primarily focuses on measuring soil moisture content, utilizing soil moisture sensors to gauge the soil's volumetric water content. Additionally, based on user requirements, the system can be expanded to include configurations such as soil temperature sensors, soil conductivity meters, soil compaction gauges, in-situ soil salinity analyzers, and rapid soil (fertilizer) nutrient testers, to monitor all soil parameters.


Monitoring soil temperature, moisture, and water level is to ensure rational irrigation, prevent water waste, and avoid soil nutrient loss caused by excessive irrigation. Assessing nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, dissolved oxygen, and pH values is for comprehensive soil nutrient analysis, accurately guiding rational application of fertilizers in paddy fields, enhancing yields, and avoiding environmental issues caused by over-fertilization.


The Soil Moisture Monitoring System is primarily composed of four parts: the monitoring center, communication network, remote monitoring equipment, and soil moisture detection devices.


 



(1) Monitoring Center:


Hardware mainly consists of servers, computers, switches, printers, etc. Software primarily includes operating system software, database software, and soil moisture monitoring system software.


(2) Communication Platform

   

Including GPRS network and public internet. The system is planned to adopt a network configuration using public internet专线, with the monitoring center requiring a fixed IP address accessible to the external internet.


(3) Remote Monitoring Equipment

   

Remote monitoring devices can be categorized into three types based on power supply: AC-powered soil moisture monitoring terminals, solar-powered soil moisture monitoring terminals, and battery-powered soil moisture monitoring terminals.

   

For the characteristics of scattered distribution and difficulty in wiring of soil moisture monitoring points, it is recommended to choose a solar-powered soil moisture monitoring terminal.


(4) Soil Moisture Monitoring Equipment

   

According to monitoring requirements, a single-point soil moisture detection can be achieved using a 1-channel soil moisture sensor; alternatively, multiple-channel soil moisture sensors can be used, with the sensors placed at different depths to detect the soil moisture profile at the monitoring points.

The Soil Moisture Monitoring System enables continuous, 24/7 monitoring. Field remote monitoring equipment automatically collects real-time soil moisture data and utilizes GPRS wireless networks for remote data transmission; the monitoring center automatically receives and stores data from various monitoring points into the database. The main functions of the system are as follows:


 


     

The Wireless Soil Moisture Monitoring System supports transmission via wired, GPRS, Bluetooth, and other methods, requires no debugging, and can be quickly deployed, widely used in agriculture, forestry, geology, universities, scientific research, and more. It primarily monitors soil moisture content and soil temperature, measuring the soil's volumetric water content (VWC) and temperature values through moisture and temperature sensors. Additionally, according to user requirements, it can be expanded to include soil conductivity, soil pH, air temperature, air humidity, solar radiation, rainfall, and other meteorological sensors.
