Lng tanks, as one of the less common special-purpose storage tanks, are primarily used by many enterprises that handle liquefied natural gas. Although used less frequently, they come in a variety of structural forms, including the most common types: spherical tanks, single-layer tanks, double-layer tanks, and fully enclosed hanging systems, among others.

How to effectively prevent accidents involving LNG tanks
lng tanks will inevitably encounter various issues during use, and problems may arise due to natural factors as well. Since issues are unavoidable, we need to manage them systematically. Let's take a look at how to address tank problems together.
1) Storage tanks should be installed in well-ventilated areas, preferably outdoors with fences around them. No open flame, flammable or explosive materials, or low-lying areas should be within 5 meters. 2) Tanks must have grounding for static electricity removal and lightning protection. The static electricity grounding resistance should not exceed 10Ω; the lightning protection device should have a maximum impulse resistance of 30Ω and should be inspected at least once a year. 3) The filling rate of the tank should not exceed 95%, and overfilling is strictly prohibited. 4) The pressure gauge must be oil-free and should be calibrated regularly; the safety valve must be made of stainless steel or copper, regularly inspected, and thoroughly degreased. 5) When valves, gauges, pipelines, etc., on the equipment freeze, defrosting should be done with nitrogen, air, or hot water at 70-80°C; open flame heating is strictly prohibited. 6) When there is liquid inside the tank, fire repairs are prohibited; the tank must be heated to room temperature before repair. 7) Operators must undergo professional training and pass an exam to be eligible for work. They should not wear oil-stained or statically charged synthetic clothing or shoes with nails. Valves should be opened and closed slowly during operation. The pressure relief valve should be tightly closed when the equipment is shut down. 8) Analyze the acetylene concentration in liquid oxygen regularly (e.g., every 15 days), and maintain the concentration below 0.1×10-6; otherwise, liquid oxygen should be discharged. 9) When liquid oxygen is stored in a sealed container, someone must monitor the pressure and ensure it does not exceed the limit. 10) Liquid oxygen must not splash onto unprotected skin to avoid severe frostbite. 11) When the tank is empty of liquid and cannot be heated immediately, all valves must be closed immediately. Since the tank's internal temperature is very low, moist air can enter through connected pipelines, causing ice blockages.

4. Maintain the ability to continue temporary operations. In the event of a sudden emergency stop or shutdown due to internal medium leakage in lng storage equipment, it would have severe consequences, whether for large-scale chemical or energy production processes or for small vehicle gas storage systems. Therefore, as lng storage tanks, their shell structures should retain the functionality to continue temporary operation even in the event of severe medium leakage, providing time to make a more appropriate safety handling.

General storage tanks are made of carbon steel, so they cannot withstand low-temperature solvents, which is where our LNG storage tanks come into play. When designing our LNG low-temperature storage tanks, we ensure the installation of firebreaks. Our single-layer storage tanks have low pressure-bearing capacity, whereas most solvents exert some pressure. However, single-layer tanks are relatively inexpensive. Due to their relatively lower safety compared to other methods, they have been used less in consumer plants and receiving stations in recent years. Double-container tanks have an outer shell made of metal materials or concrete that can withstand low temperatures. In the event of a leak in the inner cylinder, gas may escape outward, but the liquid will not, making them safer than single-container tanks. Typically, firebreaks are not required, but a larger safety protection distance is necessary.
