Sodium butyl beta-cyclodextrin is a sodium salt of beta-cyclodextrin alkylated with 1,4-butanedisulfonic acid lactone under alkaline conditions, and is an anionic, highly water-soluble derivative of beta-cyclodextrin. Sodium butyl beta-cyclodextrin can form non-covalent complexes with certain drug molecules, thereby enhancing stability, water solubility, safety, mitigating hemolytic properties of drugs, controlling the release rate of drugs, and masking unpleasant odors.
