Grab buckets are specialized tools used by cranes to handle dry bulk cargo. They consist of two or more hinged bucket-like jaws that come together to form a cargo space. During loading, the jaws close over the material pile, and the cargo is caught in the space. When unloading, the jaws open while suspended over the pile, allowing the cargo to fall onto the pile. The opening and closing of the jaws are typically controlled by the crane's hoist mechanism using wire ropes. Grab bucket operations require minimal physical labor, achieve high loading and unloading efficiency, and ensure safety, making them a primary tool for bulk cargo handling at ports.
