PA12 is an excellent electrical insulator and, like other polyamides, its insulating properties are not affected by moisture. It boasts good impact resistance and chemical stability. PA12 has various improved varieties with enhanced plasticizing and reinforcing properties. Compared to PA6 and PA66, these materials have lower melting points and densities and very high moisture regain. PA12 is not resistant to strong oxidizing acids. The viscosity of PA12 mainly depends on humidity, temperature, and storage time. It has good flowability. The shrinkage rate ranges from 0.5% to 2%, mainly influenced by material type, wall thickness, and other processing conditions. Typical applications of PA12, Polyamide 12, or Nylon 12 include water meters and other commercial equipment, cable sleeves, mechanical cams, sliding mechanisms, photovoltaic backsheets, and bearings, etc.

Chemical and Physical Properties
PA12 is a linear, semi-crystalline-crystalline thermoplastic material derived from butadiene. It shares similar properties to PA11 but has a different crystal structure. PA12 is an excellent electrical insulator and, like other polyamides, retains its insulating properties even in the presence of moisture. It boasts good impact resistance and chemical stability. PA12 has various improved grades with enhanced plasticization and reinforcement characteristics. Compared to PA6 and PA66, these materials have lower melting points and densities, and exhibit very high moisture regain. PA12 is not resistant to strong oxidizing acids. Its viscosity is primarily influenced by humidity, temperature, and storage time. It has good flow properties. The shrinkage rate ranges from 0.5% to 2%, primarily depending on the material type, wall thickness, and other processing conditions.
