When shipping to the Mexico FBA market, an RFCID tax number is required; this is an essential process.
What is RFCID Tax ID? RFCID is the Mexican Federal Taxpayers Registration Number, a tax registration number that Mexican entities must have for operating and conducting import/export business. It is equivalent to the U.S. EIN Tax ID or China's Unified Social Credit Code.
Why do we need RFCID Tax ID? When shipping to Mexico for Amazon FBA, it is mandatory to provide RFCID Tax ID information before starting the registration/upload of products. This is a requirement by the Mexican Customs and Tax Department to identify the owner and importer of imported goods. Without RFCID, the goods will not be able to clear customs and enter Mexico.
How to obtain an RFCID Tax ID? The RFCID number can be applied for online through the Mexican Tax Authority website. The application process requires providing company and legal representative information. The usual approval period is 2-3 business days.
RFCID Tax Number Validity and Updates: Once obtained, the RFCID is valid for a long period. However, if there are any changes to the company information, such as changes in legal person or company address, they must be updated promptly on the SAT website to ensure the accuracy of the tax number information.
RFCID Tax ID Application in FBA Shipments: When shipping to Mexico via FBA, you must enter the RFCID number in the product information. This allows Amazon to verify your identity and ensures smooth customs clearance into Mexico. Additionally, the RFCID number must also be provided on the customs declaration form.
