The East Campus Project of Jinan Central Hospital is located within the Jinan area of the Shandong Free Trade Zone, under the influence of the Qilu Innovation Corridor and the Jinan International Financial City. The area is the most vibrant and innovative in Jinan, a hub for high-end talents, and urgently requires high-quality medical resources to provide service and security for these talents and related industries.
The theme revolves around "Harmonizing the Melody of Health and Life," extracting and abstracting elements of the melody to create architectural images, crafting healing spaces, and fostering a harmonious coexistence between new and old, inside and outside, and the city and nature. The design deconstructs and integrates hospital functions, forming three relatively independent architectural clusters (International Medical Center, Specialized Medical Center, Comprehensive Medical Center) that encircle multiple courtyards and squares. The open hospital without walls introduces the east mountain scenery into the city, showcasing greenery and forming a natural transition from natural environment to healing environment to urban environment. The connection between clusters is established through the "Health Path" that runs through the campus, with one side being a natural mountain and the other a medical environment; one side soothing the soul, the other healing the body. It connects with the southern teaching area via the bright-colored "Life Bridge," achieving functional integration and also enlivening the urban landscape.
The facades of the architectural ensemble extract a symphonic flow of curves like musical notes and a staggered pattern like piano keys, interpreted through design to create a modern, international architectural form. The colors of the buildings are derived from the surrounding environment, featuring autumn grass, maple leaves, and pine forests, forming a palette inspired by nature. The architecture complements the mountains and forests, harmoniously coexisting with human culture and nature.
