Reconnecting to the customer's network showed unstable ping values. Print jobs took two to three minutes or more to initiate. The customer has a firewall with some network rules in place. To rule out these issues, the laptop was connected to the customer's network, and using direct printing, the problem of long transmission time persisted, and the computer sometimes reported errors, indicating it could not find the printer. Changing the printer IP from automatic to manual input did not resolve the issue. Observing the network card light, it was found that the light would randomly turn on and off after the machine entered deep power-saving mode. Replacing the network cable or other network ports did not resolve the issue either. Suspecting a network problem, the laptop's network card light did not turn off after entering deep power-saving mode. The customer has a gigabit adaptive three-layer switch. The customer ruled out the fault between the switch and the network port, and the fault phenomenon did not occur when connected to F1C3570. Print reception speed was also normal. However, the fault still appeared when switching back to 2560. A primitive method was used. A 100-megabit hub was used to connect only the printer, and the fault was resolved. The network cable was connected to the hub, and the hub was connected to the printer. Ping tests showed stable ping values in both power-saving and deep power-saving modes. The network card light returned to a steady state. After testing, the solution was to change the network card to adaptive 100 Mbps full-duplex and disable network card power-saving. Reconnecting the original network cable, the network card worked normally.
Print fault caused by SNMP communication
Customers frequently report unstable printing, with the Bashan District photocopier experiencing print malfunctions after a period of use. The printer fails to function normally, and even a ping test fails. However, the machine operates normally after a restart, but the fault recurs after some time. Changing the machine's IP address has no effect. Reason: Communication between the client and the machine is conducted through the SNMP port. Due to the customer's network issues, many clients automatically communicate with the printer via the SNMP port, increasing network load and subsequently causing print malfunctions, even resulting in a failure to ping the printer. Solution: First, disable the SNMP port on the machine, and secondly, uncheck the SNMP option in the print driver.
