Bentonite Waterproof Mat
GCL is a type of impermeable lining that falls between GCL (field-compacted clay liner) and geomembranes. It is primarily used in environmental engineering projects such as waste landfill sites, underground reservoirs, and underground infrastructure construction. It addresses issues of sealing, isolation, and leakage prevention, offering effective performance and strong resistance to damage.
Performance Features:
Easy and quick installation, green and environmentally friendly with no fire hazard.
Highly adaptable to deformation; no need for leveling or protective layer.
Weather-resistant, capable of forming a seamless, overall waterproof layer
Easily inspectable and confirmed during acceptance, can be directly applied to various substrates.
Sodium-based bentonite's swelling and self-healing properties
Sodium bentonite can absorb up to five times its own weight in water, expanding to approximately 13-16 times its original volume. It also boasts high water tightness and self-healing properties, capable of filling gaps up to 2-5mm wide after expansion. Theoretically, it is nearly perfect as a waterproofing material.
Sodium bentonite properties
Due to its nature as a natural inorganic mineral with particle sizes less than 2μm, sodium bentonite primarily consists of microcrystalline montmorillonite formed by volcanic glass thixotropy. Its service life can reach up to 20-70 million years, ensuring no frequent aging or corrosion over time, nor any changes in its chemical properties. Consequently, it possesses excellent waterproofing capabilities.
Application:
Specifically designed for artificial lakes, landfill sites, underground parking garages, rooftop gardens, ponds, oil storage facilities, and chemical storage yards.
