Cedar Bonsai (25 Pieces)
Cedar plants are best suited for purple clay pots or glazed ceramic pots. For large bonsai, deep round pots or various carved stone pots can be used, but the roots must be secured with metal wire. Medium-sized bonsai should use crabapple or horse trough-shaped pots. For丛林式种植的小苗,white alum stone or marble carved shallow pots can be used.
Use local
Cedar can be grown in loose, well-drained, slightly acidic sandy loam. For pot cultivation, it is common to use mature garden soil or leaf mold mixed with sand.
Planting
Planting is best from March to April in spring, or after autumn. When digging cedar seedlings from the ground, ensure they retain their root ball. Prune away any dead roots, spread out the fibrous roots, cover them with fine soil, gently shake the pot, and press down with a bamboo stick to ensure the soil adheres closely to the roots. It's preferable to position the main stem to one side at 1B3.
Manufacturing
The processing and shaping of cedar bonsai primarily involve wrapping, supplemented by pruning. Wrapping is best done during winter and spring, often using palm fibers. The main trunk of the cedar stands tall, with lateral branches spreading out, so the lateral branches are often bent into an S-shape, while the main trunk is generally not bent, growing naturally upwards to resemble a large tree. Alternatively, you can select 5-7 seedlings from the current year, planting them at varying heights to create a jungle-like arrangement. The branches and leaves sway gracefully, exuding a unique charm.
Tree-shaped
The cedar tree is tall and straight with horizontal branches that droop gracefully. When creating bonsai, it's essential to utilize its natural shape, with straight-trunk, twin-trunk, slanting-trunk, and forest styles being preferable. By pruning and wiring the branches, they can be shaped into layered or cloud-like patterns. With years of care, they can become excellent bonsai pieces that combine both rigidity and gentleness, exuding an elegant posture.
