If the high-frequency coil is shaped into a snake pattern, with the current directions of adjacent two winding sections opposite, and the spacing equal to half the wavelength, Rayleigh waves will be generated on the specimen surface. The excited ultrasonic signal is reflected and refracted at the surface of the tested piece, and the echo signals are received by the receiving instrument. The receiving principle is the inverse process of electromagnetic ultrasonic excitation, converting mechanical energy into electrical energy.
