The importance of acoustic barrier design and application is constrained by factors such as wind, structural conditions, surrounding building lighting, and cost. In urban areas, the height of the barrier is limited. The effective height of the barrier can be increased by adding sound-absorbing materials to the top and choosing appropriate shapes for the top sound-absorbing elements. The design length of the acoustic barrier is related to the dimensions of the protected sensitive building. According to theoretical calculations, the length to be extended at both ends of the barrier should be 3-4 times the horizontal distance from the barrier to the building.
