A piston discharge centrifuge is a continuous operation filter centrifuge. Under high-speed operation, the slurry is continuously fed into the machine through the feed pipe, flowing along the inner wall of the conical feed hopper to the filter screen of the drum. The filtrate passes through the filter screen and is discharged continuously through the filtrate outlet, while the filtrate cake accumulated on the inner surface of the filter screen is pushed out by the reciprocating piston feeder along the inner wall of the drum.
