Brief introduction:
ASTM A335 P91 grade ferritic alloy seamless steel tubes will be normalized at a low temperature of 1900°F [1040°C] and tempered at a low temperature of 1350°F [730°C] for the final heat treatment.
ASTM A335 P91 Seamless Ferritic Alloy Steel Pipe
Standard: ASTM A 335/A 335M
High-Temperature Seamless Ferritic Alloy Steel Pipe Standard Specification
ASTM A335 P91 Seamless Ferritic Alloy Steel Pipes, coated nominal (average) wall seamless alloy steel pipes for piping used in high-temperature services.
ASTM A335 P91 steel is an improved version of 9Cr-1Mo steel. By adding alloy elements like V and Nb to the original 9Cr-1Mo martensitic steel, the allowable stress at 550-650℃ is significantly higher than that of 10CrMo910 and TP304 steel. Compared to 10CrMo910 steel, the wall thickness of the pipe can be reduced by 50% under the same temperature and pressure conditions. The recommended service temperature for A335 P91 steel is below 650℃, and it boasts excellent high-temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, and creep resistance. ASTM A335 P91 steel pipes are suitable for high-pressure environments where steam temperatures exceed 600℃.
Material Properties of ASTM A335 P91
Currently, A335 P91 material is widely used in reheaters, superheater headers, nozzle seats, and steam pipes of subcritical and supercritical power plant boilers. A335 P91 is a martensitic heat-resistant steel. Pipe materials made of P91 steel offer excellent mechanical properties, high-temperature resistance, and creep resistance.
