The sequence for lightning protection device testing can be done first by testing the external lightning protection devices, followed by the internal ones.
External lightning protection devices include air terminals (lightning rods, lightning bands, lightning wires, lightning mesh), down conductors, grounding systems, equipotential bonding of metallic doors and windows, and large metallic objects on the roof.
Internal lightning protection devices include various surge protectors (SPD), equipotential bonding of indoor electronic equipment, equipotential bonding of elevator machine rooms, voltage equalization rings, and safety distances for electronic equipment. After the external and internal lightning protection devices have been inspected, each test result should be filled into the original record of lightning protection device safety inspection form as the original test record.
