II. Product Features

Sodium carboxymethyl cellulose is the sodium salt of carboxymethylated cellulose ether, a type of anionic cellulose ether. It is a white or milky white fibrous powder or granule with no odor, taste, or toxicity, posing no harm to the human body. It is easily soluble in water, forming a transparent gel-like solution, but not in hot water; its aqueous solution is a colorless, transparent, thick substance. A 1% aqueous solution has a pH of 6.5 to 8.5. The gel consistency significantly decreases when the pH is greater than 10 or less than 5, and it performs best at pH 7. Precipitation occurs at pH levels of 2-3, and reacts with multivalent metal salts to form precipitates. It is heat stable, with viscosity increasing rapidly below 20°C, changing slowly at 45°C, and its colloid can denature and its viscosity and performance significantly decrease when heated for a long time above 80°C.

Excellent resistance to acids and alkalis, enzymes, emulsification, film formation, adhesion, thickening, water retention, relaxation, and colloidal protection. Widely used in the textile, oilfield, cosmetic, food, detergent, paint, construction, ceramic, printing ink operations, and chemical polymerization reaction processes.
