To prepare porous membranes, ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMW-PE) is dissolved in a volatile solvent, continuously extruded, and then subjected to a thermoreversible gel/crystallization process, forming a wet gel membrane. Due to the limiting of the formed skeletal structure, micropores are produced during the drying process, achieving porosity through biaxial stretching without destroying the integrity of the porous structure.
