With the expansion of the construction industry, high-rise buildings are becoming more common, and various reinforcement methods are used in the associated engineering projects. One widely-used method is steel plate bonding reinforcement, which involves the use of steel bonding adhesive. What are the details that everyone should pay attention to when using it?
1. Cleaning and reinforcing the surface is a must-have, essential step. It requires sanding to remove the protective layer and apply a new coat. Use an air compressor or other cleaning tools to blow off the dust. Then, wipe it down again; if it's quite humid, you can also dry it using artificial heating.
2. Next, the steel plate must be thoroughly cleaned. There are several methods to do this. You can use sandblasting or a wire brush for abrasion, ensuring the direction of the abrasion aligns with the steel. Continue for a period until the entire steel plate shows a metallic luster, and it's ready.
3. Then, extract the materials in the specified ratio. Generally, the mixture ratio of Material A to Material B is controlled at 3:1. After thorough mixing of the two materials, apply them to the steel plate surface. The thickness should be kept under 3mm, ensuring a thicker center and thinner sides.
4. After the steel plate is properly adhered to the pre-planned position, gently tap the bonding surface with a hammer to check for hollow sounds. If there's no sound, the bond is likely dense; if there is, it may indicate larger holes and poor bonding, requiring the steel plate to be stripped off and re-glued before re-adhering.


Apply base glue. Mix the main agent with the hardener in a ratio of 3:1 (or other specified ratio), placing them sequentially in the container, measured by a spring scale. Stir evenly with an electric mixer. Determine the amount based on the actual site temperature and strictly control the application time. Generally, use it up within 1 hour. Apply the base glue evenly to the concrete surface with a roller brush. After the glue has cured (curing time depends on the site temperature, touch-dry as the standard), proceed to the next stage of construction. The general curing time is 2-3 days. Leveling. Fill in the concave parts of the concrete surface and fill in the areas with height differences, such as template joints, to minimize height differences. At the corners, also process them into smooth circular arcs with a radius not less than 30mm. Bond carbon fiber fabric. Cut the carbon fiber fabric according to the required size and number of layers. Mix and apply the surface glue (same application method as the base glue), then apply it evenly to the areas to be bonded, applying more to overlaps and concrete corners. Bond the carbon fiber fabric, peel off the release paper after confirming the bonding area, and use a special roller to roll repeatedly along the fiber direction to remove bubbles and ensure the glue fully penetrates the fabric. Repeat the above steps for multi-layer bonding and proceed to the next layer once the surface of the fabric is touch-dry. Apply the surface glue evenly on the surface of the last layer of carbon fiber fabric. The overlap length of the carbon fiber fabric along the fiber direction should not be less than 100mm. Secure the ends of the fabric with transverse fiber fabric or steel adhesive for protection and reinforcement. The surface of the reinforced carbon fiber fabric should be protected with plaster or fire-retardant paint.
