In 1978, Ken Berger and Kenton Forsythe founded EAW with the philosophy that "sound is both science and art." The company's headquarters is located in Massachusetts, USA. They understood that balancing both required rigorous testing at the core of speaker design. There were no real standards at the time; it was just starting from a blank slate to find a better method. Their vision was to design an intelligent, integrated sound system, one that would be vastly different from the amateur "home workshop" style of mixed products. These products lacked both sound quality and operational reliability, failing to deliver the desired results to users.
This approach led to a series of speaker design practices: for more reliable control over the sound field, a full horn configuration was employed; to achieve clear sound quality, a three-way design with a separate mid-frequency unit was adopted; an internal crossover was built in to ensure smooth response even under high power handling; all these technologies were integrated into the system, complemented by a robust enclosure that met stringent professional standards. This high-performance speaker system quickly earned EAW a good reputation. Professionals involved in concert and event work quickly regarded EAW's sound systems as the benchmark for speaker quality and durability. Because EAW products enhanced their technology and creativity. Other audio experts in the industry also clearly expressed their desire for their venues to possess the same capabilities. Among the important projects was the American Anaheim Stadium, for which EAW provided a custom design, covering the entire massive venue with dynamic full-range audio, providing thousands of spectators with an extraordinary entertainment experience. This project also showcased EAW's other strengths: the ability to quickly and flexibly fulfill customer orders and the capacity to manage time and specific user requirements for such a large-scale project. This also contributed to the development of EAW's professional product line, particularly the range of fixed-installation products, and highlighted EAW's commitment to its users.
EAW always maintains close contact with our users and, more importantly, listens to their feedback. We often receive design suggestions directly on-site, producing a multitude of products that meet the needs of audio experts. The Avalon Club series is a prime example, integrating specific market demands and user recommendations into product development, resulting in products that exceed user expectations. Rapidly growing in a rapidly changing society, catering to the evolving needs of our customers and the modern world, EAW's fundamental survival principle is to treat the system as a whole, seek valuable user input, leverage all available resources, and develop technology that meets both scientific and artistic standards.
