Retarding blocks are primarily designed to be paired with guardrails and pillars, as well as column caps, to mitigate impact actions on highways.
Suitable for roadways with complex vehicle types in traffic flow, to minimize the adverse effect of curbs on the trajectory of collided vehicles; or for sections where there is concern that collided vehicles may be obstructed at guardrail pillars. The energy-absorbing blocks allow the guardrail to gradually deform upon impact, benefiting energy absorption and reducing passenger casualties. Additionally, by being fixed between the pillars and the guardrail's corrugated beam, the blocks contribute to the overall function of the guardrail, distributing collision forces over more cross structures and thereby enhancing the guardrail's overall strength.
