BentoniteWaterproof mat is made by filling high-expansive sodium bentonite between a special composite geotextile and nonwoven fabric, and the needle-punched bentonite waterproof pad can form numerous small fiber spaces, preventing the bentonite particles from flowing in one direction. ——Construction Method——
1. Before laying the bentonite waterproofing mat, the subgrade should be inspected. It should be compacted, level, free of holes and puddles, and devoid of stones, tree roots, and other sharp objects.
2. Avoid vibration and impact during handling and construction of the bentonite waterproof mat to prevent excessive bending. Ensure a one-time perfect installation.
3. After the installation and acceptance of the GCL, backfilling should be done as soon as possible. For projects using HDPE geomembrane in conjunction, the geomembrane should be promptly laid and welded to prevent it from getting wet or damaged by rain.
The waterproofing mechanism is: the sodium-based bentonite particles used in the waterproofing geotextile can expand more than 24 times when in contact with water, forming a colloidal system with high viscosity and low filtrate loss. Under the restriction of two layers of geotextile, the bentonite expands from disordered to ordered, resulting in a continuous water absorption and expansion that makes the bentonite layer compact, thereby providing waterproofing properties.
