A DC Torque Motor is a specialized type of brushless permanent magnet synchronous motor, where the load is directly connected to the rotor, eliminating the need for any transmission components. Therefore, torque motors fall under direct drive technology. Torque motors are also referred to as "frameless" motors, meaning they do not have a housing, bearings, or measuring system. These components are selected by the machine manufacturer based on the required performance or purchased as a complete set.

The torque motor employs a permanent magnet brushless motor design, featuring a ring-shaped stator and a ring-shaped rotor. The stator does not use a toothed lamination design but is composed of smooth cylindrical laminations. The rotor is made up of multi-pole rare earth permanent magnet poles and a ring-shaped hollow shaft. This structure ensures a larger air gap and uniform magnetic resistance throughout the entire working air gap, thereby endowing the motor with the advantage of zero-slot torque.
