Chemical Cleaning Scale Removal Process
Recirculating Closed-loop Cleaning
Recirculating cleaning utilizes two existing parallel ash pipelines to form a loop, creating a recirculation system with the cleaning pump station. A solution of a certain acidity concentration is added, which circulates through the ash water pipes for cleaning. As the acid washing reaches a certain level, the solution is continuously replenished with acid. For short-distance single ash water pipelines, if conditions permit, a temporary pipeline can be laid to form a recirculation loop for cleaning. This process must be carried out while the system is shut down, and it is complex and costly.
Open road cleaning
No two gray pipes can form a loop during cleaning; only a single gray pipe can be used for open-loop cleaning. The method involves connecting one end of the gray pipe to the cleaning unit, continuously preparing a certain concentration of cleaning solution in the liquid mixing tank, and then continuously or intermittently injecting it into the gray pipe. This process requires the addition of cleaning equipment during shutdown, which increases costs.
Continuous cleaning without shutdown
This process involves continuously injecting a certain amount of acidic solution while simultaneously introducing a specific quantity of ash conveying tube cleaning inhibitor and pipeline cleaning descaler. This is done through open-loop cleaning. The primary role of the cleaning aids is to facilitate the reaction between the acidic solution and ash deposits at a certain concentration and flow rate, while also enhancing its solubility in water, reducing the formation of air blockages, and ensuring the quality of ash pipe cleaning.
The procedure is as follows: Before cleaning, first estimate the required acid amount based on the total scale in the pipeline. Then, calculate the acid addition rate and the flow rate of the descaling agent and pipeline cleaning agent based on the sludge water flow rate and acidity. During cleaning, take a sample at the front end of the sludge pipe every 30 minutes to test the acidity and strictly control it by adjusting the acid flow rate. In the later stage of cleaning, test the pH value at the end of the sludge pipe every 15 minutes. When the pH value reaches a certain level and remains unchanged for 30 minutes, the cleaning can be considered complete.
2. High-pressure water jet cleaning equipment
High-pressure water jet cleaning offers advantages such as high efficiency, low cost, non-damaging to workpieces, environmental friendliness, ease of operation, and safety.
The high-pressure water technology offers the following advantages.
(1) Excellent Cleaning Quality - During high-pressure water jet cleaning of pipes and the internal cavities of heat exchangers, all scaling and obstructions within the pipes are thoroughly removed, revealing the metal substrate. The high-pressure water jet, with its immense energy and supersonic movement, is fully capable of destroying stubborn scaling and obstructions without causing any damage to the metal.
Due to the pressure of high-pressure water being less than the compressive strength grade of metal, high-pressure cleaning will not damage the substrate being cleaned.
(2) Fast Cleaning Speed: Due to the combined effects of jet washing, splitting, shearing, and abrasion, scale can be quickly broken and removed, making the cleaning process several to ten times faster than traditional chemical methods, sandblasting, simple mechanical, and manual methods.
Additionally, parts cleaned with high-pressure water jetting do not require secondary cleaning; however, after chemical cleaning, the surface chemical must be rinsed off with clear water.
(3) Non-environmental Pollution: As high-pressure water jet cleaning uses pure water as the medium, it does not produce a large amount of dust like sandblasting, grit blasting, or simple mechanical cleaning, which can pollute the air and harm health. It also does not generate large amounts of waste liquid like some chemical cleaning methods, which can pollute rivers, soil, and water quality. The water jet cleaning with pure water is odorless, tasteless, and non-toxic. After atomization, the spray can also reduce the dust concentration in the working area, lowering atmospheric dust from 80mg/m³ using other methods to below the national safety standards, thus causing no pollution.

Pipe Scale
(1) Classified by chemical composition, they can be categorized into carbonate scale, sulfate scale, silicate scale, and mixed scale, etc. The main components of carbonate scale are calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate; the main components of sulfate scale and silicate scale are calcium sulfate and silicate compounds, respectively.
(2) Categorically classified by physical properties, there are two types: scale that firmly adheres to the pot shell and pipe walls, and sediments that are loosely textured and easy to dislodge.
Lime scale primarily forms due to the salts like calcium and magnesium in the boiler feed water, which precipitate and adhere to the metal surface upon heating. Lime scale has a very low thermal conductivity, about 2 to 5 times that of ordinary steel. When lime scale forms on the boiler's heating surface, it significantly worsens the heat transfer efficiency and affects the boiler's performance; it can easily cause metal materials to burn due to localized overheating, even leading to pipe bursting accidents; it also accelerates galvanic corrosion, causing pipeline lime scale corrosion and speeding up the damage to the heating surface. Once lime scale forms, it should be promptly removed using mechanical or chemical methods.
