It's just that during actual construction, one has to decide whether to perform a simple treatment (rigid waterproofing) or to take a strict and careful approach to the exterior wall waterproofing layer. 2. Exterior wall waterproofing is divided into rigid and flexible waterproofing. 3. Generally, construction companies add water-repellent agents or waterproofing powder to cement mortar when applying exterior wall plaster to achieve waterproofing, which is considered rigid waterproofing. This method is simple to implement, requiring only the addition of a certain proportion of water-repellent agents or waterproofing powder during the pre-mixing of cement mortar, with the rest of the work following the plastering process. At the same time, all PVC vent holes in concrete must be filled tightly with foam agents to prevent leaks. 4. Flexible exterior wall waterproofing usually depends on the client's budget, as the cost of flexible exterior wall waterproofing is still relatively high. 5. If flexible waterproofing is required for exterior walls, it typically involves using flexible waterproofing coatings (cement-based), such as JS waterproof coatings. The application is usually done after the base plastering, using either spraying or brushing methods. The construction process is not complex, but achieving the required thickness of the waterproofing layer on the exterior wall facade is challenging, and material waste (larger amount of dropped material) is also significant. 6. Additionally, during the exterior wall thermal insulation construction up to the crack-resistant layer, crack-resistant mortar (or finish mortar) with waterproofing function is used. This will directly increase the budget and cost of thermal insulation. Because the market price of ordinary exterior wall crack-resistant mortar (finish mortar) is generally between 800 to 1400 yuan/ton, to have waterproofing function, the cost needs to increase by more than 20%. Moreover, only experienced manufacturers can produce crack-resistant mortar (finish mortar) with actual waterproofing function. Many materials on the market that claim to be waterproof crack-resistant mortar actually do not have waterproofing properties. 7. Furthermore, exterior wall paint waterproofing. Waterproofing of exterior wall paint generally requires the primer (sealing primer) to have waterproofing properties, and the putty to be waterproof putty (many so-called waterproof putties on the market actually do not have waterproofing properties), while the exterior wall paint should have good flexibility and weather resistance. Simultaneously, the construction quality must be excellent, and the number of brushings must meet the requirements. In this way, the exterior wall paint can also serve as a waterproofing agent. 8. The waterproofing of exterior wall stone and curtain walls primarily relies on the weather-resistant adhesive used for the joints of the stone and curtain walls. The quality of the adhesive determines the effectiveness of the waterproofing, and the quality of the construction also determines whether it has waterproofing properties. 9. Waterproofing must be done for certain parts of the exterior wall. (Such as settlement joints, partition joints, window perimeters, wall penetrations of through-wall pipes, downspouts, and gas pipeline supports, etc.)
