Thai Ruby Pomelo
Thai Ruby Grapefruit originates from Nakhon Si Thammarat Province in southern Thailand. It's a unique grapefruit variety produced exclusively in the south of Thailand, considered a royal-grade fruit in Thailand, also known as "Siam Ruby Grapefruit." This grapefruit boasts a sweet and delicious taste. Due to outdated local cultivation and management practices, its annual yield is very low, making it a rare treat that is a sensory feast to savor. In Thailand, people buy this grapefruit during holidays and gift it to others, as Thais believe the Ruby Grapefruit brings luck and prosperity.

Firstly, the taste. Our domestic red grapefruit is slightly sweet upon entry, followed by a subtle bitterness; the Taiwan red Wen Dan柚 has a rich and subtle flavor, with a slightly weaker acidity than grapefruit, emitting a faint citrus fragrance; while the Ruby Red柚 is sweet and soft, with a strong sweetness upon tasting, reaching over 15 degrees, followed by a hint of natural tartness.

Next is the flesh. The color of the flesh in the Thai Ruby柚 is not very distinct from that of the common Chinese red pomelo. However, when the Ruby柚 is cut horizontally, you can see that the flesh is not uniformly red; the outer layer of each segment is red, while the part closer to the core is yellow. The Ruby柚 is fresh and juicy, with each pomelo typically divided into 9 to 12 segments, with distinct, tightly packed flesh particles. In comparison, the Chinese red pomelo has more segments, even smaller ones usually have 14 to 18 segments. Limited growth space makes it difficult to obtain sufficient juice, resulting in a relatively rough and dry texture. As for the pomelo peel, the spongy layer beneath the outer skin, most domestic pomelos have a thicker peel, while the Thai Ruby Green柚 has a much thinner one.。

Ruby柚 among premium柚 varieties is a large fruit, with an extra-large one weighing up to 4 pounds. This red柚 has a shape resembling an apple, with green or pale green skin and clearly visible pores. Taiwan's Ruby Wen Tan柚 is smaller in size, with other red柚es in China also having an apple-like shape, with skin colors ranging from green to yellow. Chinese red柚es typically have smooth skin, shallow pores on the surface, and round stems, whereas the Thai Ruby柚 has an inwardly indented and creased stem.
