We've compiled the following waterproof tile installation principles for you:
1. Materials used ensure adhesion between the waterproof coating and the base layer. Do not proceed with the construction if the base layer surface is not suitable for sanding.
2. Choose a more rigid waterproofing coating for the wall, such as Langkaiqi L-185, EZ610, etc.
3. After the waterproofing layer is applied, apply a layer of cement mortar. Once the cement mortar is set without any hollows, adhere the tiles to the cement mortar surface.
4. When laying tiles, do not install them from bottom to top all at once. Instead, spread them out in two to three installments. Wait until the adhesive hardens and the tiles are securely bonded before proceeding with the next layer.
5. On polymer cement waterproof coatings, when using the traditional thick-laminating method, i.e., adhering tiles with cement mortar, the water-cement ratio should be strictly controlled, and gaps should be left without being filled prematurely to prevent the waterproof coating from being constantly moistened, leading to poor bonding strength. The cement mortar itself (thickness of 2~5cm) plus the weight of the tiles, exceeding 20~40kg per square meter, far exceeds the load the waterproof coating can bear, inevitably causing tiles to peel off from the waterproofing layer on vertical surfaces.
