We have compiled the following waterproof tile installation principles for you:
1. The materials used ensure the bonding strength between the waterproof coating and the base layer. Do not force the application if the base layer surface is not properly abraded for construction.
2. Wall waterproofing layer is selected with a more rigid waterproof coating, such as Langkaiqi L-185, EZ610, etc.
3. After applying the waterproofing layer, add a coat of cement mortar. Provided that there are no hollows in the cement mortar, adhere the tiles to the cement mortar surface.
4. When installing tiles, do not lay them from bottom to top all at once. Instead, spread them out in two to three stages. Wait for the adhesive to harden and the tiles to be securely bonded after each stage before proceeding to the next.
5. On polymer-cement waterproof coatings, if the traditional thick-adhesive method is used, i.e., using cement mortar to adhere tiles, the water-cement ratio should be strictly controlled, and gaps should be left without early sealing to prevent the waterproof coating from remaining damp for an extended period, resulting in poor adhesion strength. The cement mortar itself (thickness up to 2~5cm) combined with the weight of the tiles (over 20~40kg per square meter) far exceeds the load the waterproof coating can bear, inevitably causing delamination between the tiles and the waterproof layer on vertical surfaces.
