We've compiled the following waterproof tile installation principles for you:
1. Materials used ensure waterproof coating adhesion to the base layer; do not force construction if the base layer surface is not sufficiently abraded for application.
2. Choose a more rigid waterproofing coating for the wall, such as Langkaiqi L-185, EZ610, etc.
3. After the waterproofing layer is applied, a layer of cement mortar is applied next. As long as the cement mortar is free of hollows, tiles can be adhered to the cement mortar surface.
4. When laying tiles, do not do it from bottom to top in one go. Instead, divide it into two to three sessions. Wait for the adhesive to harden and the tiles to be securely attached before proceeding to the next layer.
5. On polymer cement waterproof coatings, when using the traditional thick-laminating method, such as pasting tiles with cement mortar, the water-cement ratio should be strictly controlled, and gaps should not be filled prematurely to avoid the waterproof coating being constantly wetted over time, leading to poor adhesion strength. The cement mortar itself (thickness up to 2-5cm) combined with the weight of the tiles (over 20-40kg per square meter) far exceeds the load the waterproof coating can bear, inevitably causing delamination between the tiles and the waterproof layer on vertical surfaces.
