Vinyl Alcohol Fiber (PVA fiber for short) is a synthetic fiber made from high-polymerized vinyl alcohol (PVA) using specific advanced technology.

Vinyl acetate fibrous material boasts high strength and modulus, low extensibility, excellent wear resistance, and good acid-base resistance and weather resistance. It has a good affinity and bondability with substrates like cement and gypsum, and is non-toxic, non-polluting, and harmless to human skin. It is one of the green building materials of the new generation of high technology. The raw material for producing vinyl acetate fibrous material is polyvinyl alcohol, a water-soluble high polymer with properties between plastics and rubbers, with wide applications.

Synthetic fibers produced by spinning with polyvinyl alcohol as the raw material. The polyvinyl alcohol-formaldehyde condensate fiber obtained by treating this fiber with formaldehyde, known as vinylon in China and vinylon internationally. Fibers spun from polyvinyl alcohol with a lower molecular weight are water-soluble, referred to as water-soluble polyvinyl alcohol fibers. General polyvinyl alcohol fibers lack the necessary hot water resistance and have little practical application value. Polyvinyl alcohol-formaldehyde condensate fibers have characteristics such as softness and warmth, especially with a high moisture absorption rate (up to 5%) among synthetic fibers, hence the nickname "synthetic cotton." However, they have poor heat resistance with a softening point of only 120°C.
