Manhole covers refer to the steel grating covers placed over culverts, storm drains, and similar channels. They are made by welding steel grating panels, offering high strength, good load-bearing capacity, light weight, high drainage volume, and aesthetic durability. Their primary purpose is to ensure safety for pedestrians and vehicles, and sometimes to protect the channels themselves. There are mainly three types: concrete manhole covers, cast iron manhole covers, and steel grating manhole covers. Due to their cost-effectiveness, aesthetic appeal, and variety, steel grating manhole covers are typically the preferred choice.

Grate classifications and surface treatment

Manhole Cover Material: Generally made of low-carbon steel Q235, sometimes also made of stainless steel and fiberglass materials.

Surface corrosion treatment for manhole covers: Typically, hot-dip galvanizing is used, with occasional use of painting as well. Hot-dip galvanized manhole covers offer stronger corrosion resistance.
