Property: White powder, insoluble in water, soluble in hot ethanol, benzene, and turpentine. When heated in organic solvents, it dissolves and upon cooling, forms a gelatinous substance. Upon contact with strong acids, it decomposes into stearic acid and the corresponding salts, exhibiting hygroscopic properties.
