Fireproof window refers to a window that, together with its frame, can meet the requirements of fire stability and fire integrity within a certain period of time. When lighting and ventilation are required on the exterior walls of two buildings with insufficient fire separation distance, or between spaces separated by firewalls, fire-resistant windows should be used.
There are two main categories of fire-resistant windows sold domestically: one is fire-resistant windows that not only maintain integrity within the specified time, but also have thermal insulation function; Another type is a fireproof window that maintains integrity within a specified time but does not have insulation function. In terms of fire prevention function, both types of fire-resistant windows can be used for exterior wall windows. Usually, the amount of combustible materials on the exterior wall is relatively small. As long as the windows on the exterior wall can maintain integrity and not break under the action of flames or high temperatures, the possibility of external flames igniting the internal items of the upper floors is small. In general, fire-resistant windows made of Class C fire-resistant glass and fire-resistant window frames that do not change in transparency over time can meet the requirements of preventing flames from spreading from the outside to the inside. However, in some special cases, it is still recommended to use fire-resistant windows with insulation function.
(1) The lower floors are places with high fire loads such as shopping malls and warehouses,
(2) The windows of the lower floor are french window, or the window size is very large.
(3) The exterior wall is a breathing curtain wall structure (or a large billboard).
(4) When the materials and construction of the external wall insulation system do not meet the requirements of the merged "Code for Fire Protection Design of Buildings".
