Fuxi cliff carving statue, a mountain head sculpture with a height of about 70.5 meters and a length of about 230 meters.

The iconic Chinese mountain portrait sculpture, the Fuxi Cliff Carving Statue, has officially begun construction on Xiangyang's Yanshan Mountain. Fuxi is the first of the Three Emperors in Chinese mythology and the ancestor of civilization. The "Century of Emperors" written by Huangfu Mi during the Eastern Han Dynasty records, "Fuxi was buried in Nanjun, in Xiangyang." There are many legends about Fuxi in the Yanshan area.

At the Meng Haoran Cultural Tourism Zone along the colorful stone road leading to Xijiachi Pool, reporters saw dozens of workers busy constructing at the peak. The project manager, Cao Hongxin, introduced that the Fuxi cliff carving statue stands 70.5 meters tall and over 230 meters long, with plans to be completed by July 2016. "The eyes are 9 meters long and 2 meters high, the nose is 18 meters long and 9 meters wide, with one nostril able to accommodate over a dozen people."

Cao Hongxin said, "After the Fu Xi portrait was completed, it was four times the height of the 18-meter-tall Mount Rushmore sculpture of the U.S. president. Due to construction on the mountain, large machinery could not be used, and all work was done manually. 'Construction on the mountain is quite challenging, and currently, we can only complete a few centimeters of work per day.' "

The "Records of Emperors" by Huangfu Mi of the Eastern Han Dynasty states: "Fu Xi was buried in the Nanjun, in Xiangyang."
