Introduction to Stainless Steel High Neck Welding Flange

Stainless steel raised face welding flanges, simply put, are flanges with a high neck made of stainless steel; typically, high neck flanges are categorized according to American standards.

The national standard necked welding flange appears slightly shorter in the neck compared to the ANSI welding flange.

Due to its stainless steel material, it resists acid and alkali, corrosion resistance, withstands high temperatures, and is resistant to corrosion.

Due to the high neck design of the ASME standard weld flange, its design features and mechanical properties have been recognized, and it is widely used in the United States.

There are appropriate requirements for rigidity and flexibility, with a reasonable transition in weld thinning, the weld joint is far from the joint surface, and the joint surface is free from deformation due to welding temperatures.

Connection Type

ASME焊接法兰 and GB welding flanges have the same connection type,焊接 at the neck, with a flange gasket added to the sealing surface and bolts used to secure the bolt holes.

Production Process

Welding flanges are generally made from forgings or forging and rolling processes. When manufactured using steel plates or shaped steel, they must meet the following requirements:

The welded flange should be inspected by ultrasonic testing, with no delamination defects.

2. The steel should be cut into strips along the rolling direction, bent and welded into a ring, ensuring the surface of the steel forms a cylindrical shape around the ring. Direct machining of steel plates into flanged neck welding flanges is not permitted.

3. The joint weld of the ring should be a full penetration weld.

4. The butt weld of the stainless steel flange ring should undergo post-weld heat treatment and be inspected by radiography or ultrasonic testing. The radiography must meet the II-grade requirements of JB4730, and the ultrasonic testing must meet the I-grade requirements of JB4730.

The outer slope of the neck of the welding flange should not exceed 70°.
