Carbon Steel Flange Blind Plate Introduction

Carbon steel flange cover blind plate, also known as a plug or pipe cap, is more commonly referred to as a flange cover or blind plate, all representing the same product.

Carbon steel flange caps differ from flat welding flanges in that the flange caps do not have a hole in the middle. They serve as pipe sealing, similar to a blanking plug, but can withstand higher pressure than a blanking plug. Additionally, they are removable and offer various sealing surfaces for complete sealing. Related products include 8-shaped blind plates, which also serve the purpose of pipe sealing and pressure measurement.

Carbon Steel Flange Blind Plate Features

The flange cover can withstand higher pressure ratings than the blank end. The blank end is non-detachable as it is for welding, whereas the flange cover is removable, and it also features a variety of sealing surfaces.

Blind flanges serve the same isolation and cutoff functions as end caps, pipe caps, and welded plugs; due to their excellent sealing performance, they are generally regarded as reliable isolation methods for systems requiring complete isolation.

Production Process

Generally, there are four types: forging, casting-forging, medium plate cutting, and casting. Forging products are priced higher, followed by medium plate, with casting-forging being lower. Casting is the least desirable process. As for quality, forging and medium plate are superior, while casting-forging is slightly inferior.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Carbon Steel Flange Cover Blind Plates

Advantages: Better sealing effect than flanged heads or pipe caps, all bolted for easy disassembly. The diverse sealing surfaces, combined with corresponding gaskets, provide perfect pipe sealing.

Disadvantage: The price for flanged covers for cap ends and pipe caps is higher compared to other options.
