Dendrobium flowers, when infused in water, are known to nourish the yin, moisten the throat, and clear heat. Dendrobium infusion is suitable for conditions such as heat disease damaging fluids, dry mouth, post-disease yin deficiency, persistent feverishness, night heat and early morning coolness, insufficient stomach yin, thin coating and dry tongue, and thready and rapid pulse. It is often used in combination with raw rehmannia, ophiopogon, trigonella, asparagus, polygonatum, and lily. However, due to its sweet and cold properties, it may help to condense pathogenic factors and assist dampness. Therefore, it is not advisable for those with damp-heat stagnation or damp-heat not yet transformed into dryness; it should be strictly avoided for those suffering from warm-damp diseases.
