Hardness testing of stamping material is primarily to confirm whether the annealing degree of the purchased metal sheet is suitable for the upcoming stamping process, as different types of stamping processes require different hardness levels of sheets. Aluminum alloy sheets for electronic stamping can be tested with the Vickers hardness tester, and if the material thickness is greater than 13mm, the Brinell hardness tester can be used instead. Pure aluminum sheets or low-hardness aluminum alloys should be tested with the Brinell hardness tester.

In the stamping industry, the stamping of filter housing is sometimes also referred to as sheet metal forming, but there is a slight difference. Sheet metal forming refers to the general term for forming methods using sheet materials, thin-walled tubes, and thin sections as raw materials for plastic processing, where deformation in the thickness direction is generally not a major consideration at this point.
