1. When gas welding low carbon steel, good welding performance is demonstrated by the fact that as long as the thickness of the welded part is not particularly thick and no flux is used, a fully qualified welding joint with mechanical properties that meet the standards of the base material can be obtained.

When gas welding is used to weld alloy steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals, high melting point stable oxides such as Cr2O3, SiO2, and Al2O3 are easily generated in the molten pool, which can cause slag inclusion in the weld seam. Therefore, appropriate welding flux must be used during welding, which can form low melting point slag with such oxides to facilitate the surfacing of the molten pool. Because metal oxides are mostly alkaline, acidic fluxes such as borax and boric acid are generally used. When welding cast iron, there is often a high amount of SiO2 present, so alkaline fluxes such as sodium carbonate and potassium carbonate are usually used.

 

By comparing the first and second points, it is proven that gas welding has good weldability when welding low carbon steel materials.
