The design of bridge guardrail directly affects the aesthetics of the bridge. Bridge guardrails come in a variety of styles, which can be classified into fence type, fence plate type, and hybrid type. When designing bridge guardrails, two main points should be noted:

1、 The scale of bridge guardrails. This is a very important point because the main function of guardrails is to ensure the safety of people and vehicles. Without a sense of security, there can be no sense of beauty. Therefore, bridge guardrails must be strong enough to withstand crowding and collisions, providing people with a sense of security and reliability. Another point is that the height of the railing should not be too high and obstruct people's view. The height of the railing can be determined according to the distance from the bridge deck. Generally, when the clearance distance is more than three meters, the handrail support surface is about one meter. When the clearance distance is less than three meters, the height of the railing can be appropriately reduced. For wider bridge decks with segmented multi lane bridges, the height and end face size of the guardrails can be slightly larger to increase the stability of the bridge guardrails.

2、 The diversity and unity of styles. Nowadays, the design of bridge guardrails is mainly based on a simple and bright style, but the pattern and shape of the components of the guardrail can still be flexible and varied. This can avoid monotony and maintain the harmony and unity of the guardrail, and not easily affect the main body of the bridge.
