The common forms of bridge guardrails include concrete guardrails, corrugated beam guardrails, and cable guardrails. The selection of the form of bridge guardrails should first be based on the level of the highway, taking into account factors such as safety, coordination, characteristics of the objects to be protected, and site geometric conditions to determine the collision prevention level. Then, the selection of the construction form should be based on factors such as its own structure, economy, construction, and maintenance. There are three burial methods for it: direct embedding of columns, flange connection, and pouring of bridge guardrails and bridge decks into one through force transmitting steel bars. When conditions permit, a replaceable guardrail can be used.

Bridge guardrails are generally classified into B-level guardrails, A-level guardrails, SB level guardrails, SA level guardrails, SS level guardrails, and so on, based on their ability to prevent collisions.

Bridge guardrails are usually divided into three types: steel guardrails, semi steel guardrails, and flexible guardrails. Steel guardrails are generally represented by cast bridge guardrails, semi steel guardrails are generally represented by corrugated bridge guardrails, and flexible guardrails are generally represented by cable bridge guardrails.
