Although we often use distribution boxes, cabinets, control boxes, and control cabinets, people sometimes aren't clear on their specific meanings and often confuse them. Let's discuss their individual definitions and differences:

Distribution Box

The main function of a distribution box is to control and distribute electrical equipment, while also protecting circuits from overloading, short-circuiting, and leakage. Suitable for various locations such as schools, offices, factories, workshops, and homes, including lighting distribution boxes and general distribution boxes. Control boxes are also a type of distribution box.

Distribution panels are primarily used for the control, monitoring, measurement, and protection of power lines and major electrical equipment. They consist of a complete set of switchgear and control equipment, serving as power centers and main distribution units. Typically, they are located in substation buildings, distribution rooms, and similar facilities.

Control cabinets are typically control units for terminal electrical equipment, equipped with PLC contactors, relays, etc., from which control commands for the equipment are sent or transmitted. Generally, control cabinets are located beneath the distribution box, with power supplied from the distribution box and delivered to the electrical equipment via the control cabinet.
