Excellent insulation propertiesBoron nitride has a breakdown voltage four to five times that of alumina under high temperatures, a dielectric constant half that of alumina, and remains an electrical insulator up to 2000°C, making it suitable as an electrical insulating material for high-temperature applications.
Excellent high-temperature resistanceBoron nitride has a high melting point, low coefficient of thermal expansion, and stable thermal stability, allowing for repeated rapid heating and cooling between 1500°C and room temperature.
High thermal conductivityBoron nitride exhibits excellent thermal conductivity, with the thermal conductivity of hot-pressed hexagonal boron nitride comparable to that of stainless steel, and its variation with temperature is minimal. Below 900°C, its thermal conductivity is superior to that of BeO.
Chemical StabilityBoron nitride exhibits excellent resistance to erosion from acids, alkalis, and glass slags. It neither wets nor reacts with most molten metals such as Fe, Al, Ti, Cu, and Si, as well as with gallium arsenide, cryolite, and glass melts.
