Structural steel is a type of construction composed of steel materials and is one of the primary types of building structures. It is mainly made up of components such as beam steel, steel columns, and steel trusses, which are formed from shaped steel and steel plates. Rust and corrosion prevention techniques like silanization, manganese phosphate conversion, water washing and drying, and galvanizing are employed. Components or parts are typically connected using welds, bolts, or rivets. Due to its light weight and ease of construction, it is widely used in large factories, stadiums, high-rise buildings, and other fields.
Steel boasts high strength, low weight, good overall stiffness, and strong resistance to deformation, making it particularly suitable for constructing large-span, heavy, and tall structures. It has good uniformity and isotropy, classifying it as an ideal elastic body, and aligns with the fundamental assumptions of general engineering mechanics. The material is also highly malleable and ductile, allowing for significant deformation and excellent endurance under dynamic loads. Construction projects using steel can be completed in a shorter duration. The industrialization level of steel is high, enabling highly mechanized specialized production.

Structural steel should research high-strength steel to significantly enhance its yield point strength. Additionally, new types of profile steel, such as H-beams (also known as wide flange beams) and T-beams, as well as corrugated steel sheets, should be rolled to meet the requirements of large-span structures and high-rise buildings. Furthermore, there is a heat bridge-free light-gauge steel structure system. While the building itself is not energy-efficient, this technology addresses the cold and hot bridge issues with clever special connectors. The small truss structure allows for cables and plumbing pipes to pass through the walls, facilitating both construction and renovation.
