When placed side by side, the key difference is their corrosion resistance: 201 has poor corrosion resistance, hence its lower price. Additionally, due to the lower nickel content in 201 stainless steel, it is less expensive than 304, but also has less corrosion resistance.The difference between 201 and 304 stainless steel lies in the nickel content.
