Daily Maintenance and Care for Fans

    2025-10-30

A fan is a mechanical device that increases gas pressure and discharges gas by utilizing input mechanical energy. It is a driven fluid mechanical device, and the clogging of a fan can directly affect the operation of the entire mechanical process. Therefore, its maintenance is crucial. Let's take a detailed look at the maintenance of fans.

    I. Fan Maintenance and Care

The impeller is the rotating component of a fan, responsible for transporting gases to the exhaust end of the fan. For instance, it consists of a rear disk, a straight front disk with an inlet ring, and blades. The blades are made up of arc-shaped blades with a large radius of curvature. During the initial operation of the impeller and at all regular inspections, it is essential to check whether the impeller is securely fastened to the shaft shoulder and for any cracks, wear, or dust accumulation. Whenever possible, the impeller should be kept clean and regularly brushed with a wire brush to remove dust and rust. Because as operating time increases, theseDust, unable to uniformly adhere to the impeller blades, causes a disturbance in impeller balance, leading to rotor fluctuation.

Once the impeller has been repaired, it must be rebalanced. Before rebalancing, all securing bolts must be checked for tightness. Since the impeller has been operating in an unbalanced state for some time, these bolts may have become loose.

Inspect the impeller's axial position based on the fan installation distribution map and the dimensions of the diffuser insertion into the impeller's inlet ring. Check the radial gap between the diffuser and the impeller's inlet ring, and adjust the diffuser or housing as needed to achieve the correct spacing. This ensures that the housing's intake box side panel is calibrated correctly relative to the main shaft and shaft seal. Verify and ensure that the housing and intake box's inlet and outlet end faces meet the drawing and pipeline connection requirements.

Shell and intake chamber maintenance and repair

In addition to regular inspections for severe wear on the housing and intake chamber interiors and clearing significant dust accumulations, no other repairs are required for these areas.

Regularly inspect all fastening bolts for tightness and press the butterfly springs on the footings to the installation height specified in the drawings.

Main shaft and coupling maintenance and repair

The spindle should be kept clean, and the shoulder should be scraped of dirt annually. Special attention should be given to the location where the main spindle passes through the intake chamber side panel end seal, as these areas are highly prone to corrosion due to the condensation effect of a small amount of leaked air.

If a fan operates in an unbalanced state for a period of time, it is advisable to conduct a straightness check on the main shaft as soon as possible. The coupling should be kept clean and its connection tightness should be inspected regularly.

Section 4: Maintenance and Repair of the Bearing Department

Regularly inspect the bearing lubrication oil supply. If there is oil leakage in the housing, tighten the bolts of the end cover slightly. If this does not work, a new seal needs to be replaced.

Lubricating oil for bearings should be changed at least once every six months during normal use, and the oil should be inspected at least once every six months upon the initial application.

In addition to maintenance and repairs, regular inspections are more critical for fans. Here are the inspection items provided by the professional technical personnel from Jiangsu Zhongnan Blower.Routine Wind Turbine Inspection Matters

Prior to turning on the fan, ensure that any foreign objects inside the fan are thoroughly cleaned, check if the main shaft is loose, and inspect for any abnormalities in the opening mechanism.

    2. Inspect the tension of the fan belts weekly, adjust the positions of the large and small pulleys to maintain them on the same horizontal plane.

    3. During the operation of the fan, check for any abnormal sounds, ensure that the louver opening angle is less than 90 degrees, and clean the dust on the louvers daily to prevent insufficient coverage and severe air leakage, which can affect work efficiency.

    4. Check the fan's operation sequence and status based on the temperature controller's working indication.
