Application of Membrane Separation Technology in Baijiu Production

Traditional liquor filtration and clarification used to involve activated carbon adsorption followed by clarification through horizontal diatomite filter machines to remove the activated carbon. Diatomite filter equipment often suffers from low filtration accuracy, soil leakage, complicated operation, and inconsistent filtration effects. Powdered activated carbon, being very fine particles, easily leaks through the diatomite layer, resulting in charcoal particles in the liquor. Moreover, the diatomite itself has average filtration effects, thus leading to an unsatisfactory luster in the liquor.

If the hollow fiber ultra-filtration membrane is initially used for cross-flow filtration in white wine production, the filtration effect is stable due to the fixed-pore-size retention method that does not add auxiliaries. As follows:

The aperture is 0.1um, effectively filtering out active carbon particles from the wine. The filtered white liquor is clear and transparent with a good luster.

2. Utilizing crossflow operation and ideal pore selection, activated carbon particles won't get trapped within the membrane pores.

3. Easy cleaning without disassembling equipment; simply flush with water after rinsing to easily restore flux.

4. The structural design is lightweight and rational, with simple operation, stable filtration effect, and allows for frequent shutdowns.
