How to Chamfer Granite Curbing?

Rimstone is originally a square or rectangular shape during processing, yet many of the rimstones we encounter have slanted or rounded corners. These slanted and rounded edges are what we refer to as chamfering.

Beveling refers to the process of cutting the edges into a certain斜 angle. So, how is the curb stone beveled?

There are various methods for chamfering curb edges, with more advanced ones including fully automatic chamfering, followed by semi-automatic chamfering and manual chamfering. Fully automatic chamfering uses a specialized chamfering machine, which operates automatically once the parameters are set. However, not many manufacturers use this type of machine, as it is rather space-consuming and not highly utilized.

Many stone factories today do not solely produce curbstones; they typically manufacture a variety of products such as fire-polished slabs, smooth slabs, and荔枝faced panels, as well as various curbstones. Consequently, most stone factories still predominantly use semi-automatic and manual chamfering methods.

The so-called semi-automatic process involves using an infrared cutting machine for chamfering. When processing curb stones, the rough stones are first cut to the required thickness, then cut to the desired specifications using the cutting machine. Adjusting the tilt of the blade allows for chamfering. However, this method is suitable only for chamfering angles and not for rounding corners.

The most common application of chamfering is rounding corners. Generally, a 1-2 cm 1/4 round corner is frequently done, which can be completed with just a swipe of a grinder. However, the more challenging aspect is the large round corners, around 5 cm, which require workers to gradually grind them out and ensure a consistent curve during the process. Otherwise, the curb stones won't align neatly.
