How to Chamfer Granolithic Curbing?

Curbstone is a common type of facing stone. When it's processed, it comes out in a square, rectangular shape. However, many curbstones we see have either a slanted or rounded corner, which is what we refer to as chamfering.

What is chamfering, which refers to cutting edges into a certain斜面? How is the curbing stone chamfered?

The editor introduces that there are many ways to chamfer curbstones, with more advanced methods including fully automatic chamfering, semi-automatic chamfering, and manual chamfering. Fully automatic chamfering utilizes a dedicated chamfering machine, which can operate automatically after setting parameters. However, not many manufacturers use this type of machine, as it takes up a considerable amount of space and has a low usage rate.

Many stone factories today do not solely specialize in curbstone production; they typically offer a variety of products, including fired panels, smooth boards, and荔枝-faced slabs, along with curbstones. Consequently, most stone factories still predominantly use semi-automatic and manual chamfering methods.

The so-called semi-automatic process involves using an infrared cutting machine for chamfering. During the processing of curb stones, the rough stones are first cut to the required thickness, then cut into the desired specifications using the cutting machine. Adjusting the angle of the blade allows for chamfering, although this method is only suitable for chamfering angles and not for rounding.

The most commonly applied artificial chamfering is rounding corners. Generally, it's easy to achieve a 1/4 round corner of 1-2 cm, as a quick pass with a grinder can do the trick. The challenge lies in creating a large round corner of about 5 cm, which requires workers to grind it out gradually and ensure a consistent curve during the process, otherwise the curb stones won't align neatly.
