Standards impose stringent requirements on the construction and dimensions of lids, but there are no detailed specifications for the etching patterns. Generally, lids are made of tinplate, featuring two etched lines with loop holes at both ends, similar to pull-top cans. During installation, a lid clamp is used to stop the sealing process, where the clamp stops the neck of the lid from shrinking, allowing the lid to fit securely onto the neck of the flange. A sealing washer is typically added inside the lid to ensure a tight fit with the cap, preventing loosening. To open the lid, simply grip the loop with pliers and pull upwards, or use an iron hook to lift the loop. Once the lid is removed, it cannot be restored, hence the name "anti-theft lid." Additionally, as the lid can also prevent rainwater from entering the bucket, it is sometimes referred to as a "waterproof lid."
