Computer cables are electrical equipment cables, suitable for electronic computers and automated instruments with high requirements for anti-interference at rated voltages of 500V or below. Depending on the specific environmental and usage requirements of the equipment, the cable insulation can be made from materials such as polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride, cross-linked polyethylene, fluoro plastics, and silicone rubber.

Each pair of twisted sheathes and between twisted sheathes and the overall sheath should be uninterrupted.

The cores of the cables should withstand a non-penetration under an alternating voltage of 2000V for 1 minute or 1500V for 5 minutes at 50Hz, as well as between cores and between cores and the shielding or other metallic layers.

High insulation resistance and excellent voltage resistance of polyethylene, along with a small dielectric constant and minimal temperature and frequency-dependent dielectric loss, not only meet transmission performance requirements but also ensure the cable's service life.

To minimize mutual interference between loops and external interference, the cables must be constructed with a shielding structure. The shielding materials include tin-plated or untinned copper wire, copper strip, copper-plastic composite tape, and aluminum-plastic composite tape, among others. The metallic strips are produced by wrapping, with an overlap rate typically not less than 15%. However, specific standards may have special provisions, such as TICW/06, which requires the overlap rate of the shielding metallic strip to be not less than 25%. The metallic wire is produced by braiding, with a braiding coverage rate not less than 80%, and for higher interference resistance requirements, the coverage rate may not be less than 90%.

The shielding requirements for cables are individually adopted for different scenarios: segmented shielding (only for twisted pairs, with each twisted pair having its own shielding), overall shielding (the cable has a single overall shielding layer after the cores are stranded), and segmented + overall shielding (combining both structures). To meet higher requirements of users and usage scenarios, the overall shielding structure can be implemented using a composite shielding method, which includes two layers of shielding, consisting of metallic tape wrapping + metal wire braiding.

Note: If the cable has a segmented shielding structure, the shielding layers should have good insulation properties, and polyester tape or other non-absorbent wrapping tape should be applied on the outer side of the segmented shielding.
